A solid fixture of the New York jazz scene and respected world-wide, Ralph Lalama embodies the best of the jazz sound ideal – great time, great swing, expressed through great melodic ideas. Everything he says and plays comes out of his deep connection and appreciation for “the Beat.” Jazz critic Zan Stewart put it succinctly: “Lalama is a grand, modern-minded storyteller…a first-class jazz soloist.” He excels in a chord-less trio format with his amazing command of the harmonic progressions articulated through his horn. But on top of being a great jazz soloist, Lalama is equally a solid veteran of jazz ensembles and orchestras. Over his impressive career starting with Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, and the Mel Lewis Orchestra – now the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra – he has honed the craft of sonic blending.

Greg Wahl is a versatile saxophonist from Boulder, Colorado. As an alumnus of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, and the University of Colorado, Greg has had the opportunity to learn from the best jazz musicians in the area. In Colorado, Greg has performed with many prominent jazz groups and musicians including Convergence, Big Swing Trio, Brad Goode, Paul Romaine, and Paquito D'Rivera. Greg's confidence and creativity in improvising are the cornerstones of his unique, hard-swinging style.

Kenyon Brenner began developing his love for music at an early age while growing up in Colorado. After realizing his desire to pursue a career in jazz, he eventually attended the University of Northern Colorado, where he earned his bachelors and masters degrees. During his time at UNC he studied saxophone, voice, and composition. In 2009 Kenyon spent six months studying African culture and music in Ghana through UNC’s study abroad program. While in school Kenyon was a member of UNC’s prestigious groups, Jazz Lab Band I, Vanguard Combo and Vocal Lab. All three ensembles won Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards for Best Graduate Large Ensemble, Best Graduate Small Ensemble, and Best Graduate Vocal Jazz Ensemble while he was a member. Downbeat Magazine, in their 2014 Student Music Awards, awarded his original composition titled, “Pensitivity." He was also a semifinalist in the North American Saxophone Alliance’s 2014 jazz saxophone competition.
