Salaam/Shalom - A Celebration of Arabic & Jewish Music
Salaam/Shalom - A Celebration of Arabic & Jewish Music
Salaam/Shalom brings musicians from diverse backgrounds together to find common cause in their shared belief in music as a force for social justice.

Middle Eastern ensemble ZURUNA fosters the sensuous rhythms and sounds of Arabic music from north Africa, Israel and Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey. Vocalist Catrene Malshy, an Arab Israeli from Haifa, is dedicated to promoting songs of peace, love, and coexistence. The ensemble includes Annie Aqua (violin), Pete Jacobs (oud), James Messerich (percussion), and Meg York (clarinet and flute).

HAL AQUA AND THE LOST TRIBE play klezmer fusion music -- an exuberant musical experience, rooted in traditional Eastern European Jewish modes and melodies and driven by contemporary rhythms and danceable grooves. The band includes Hal Aqua (vocals, guitar, octave mandolin), Annie Aqua (violin), Ben Cohen (electric bass, tuba), and Shanti Hazan (percussion).

The musicians of Zuruna and The Lost Tribe believe passionately that music is more powerful than politics. Don't miss this magical evening of sharing, synergy, and joyous celebration!
